# Arkansas CPA license

Arkansas has three licensure education/experience routes under rules effective March 5, 2026. The CPA credential is different from ordinary bookkeeping or non-CPA accounting work.

## 3 credential pathways

Each credential below has its own requirements. Pick the one that matches the work you plan to do.

### CPA license through the graduate-degree route.

1.  #### Education
    
    Hold a master's degree in accounting or a business concentration accepted by the Board. Exam eligibility separately requires 18 upper-level accounting hours with at least a C.
    
2.  #### Exam
    
    Pass all sections of the Uniform CPA Examination; the current rule notice does not add a separate initial ethics examination.
    
3.  #### Experience
    
    Complete one year of qualifying accounting experience verified under the Arkansas Board rules.
    
4.  #### Application
    
    Apply to the Arkansas State Board of Accountancy with official transcripts, exam records, experience verification, and the Board's character/background documents.

### CPA license through the bachelor's-plus-150-hour route.

1.  #### Education
    
    Hold a bachelor's degree, complete 150 semester hours, and satisfy the accounting and business concentration requirements in the 2026 Arkansas rules (including the defined upper-level accounting curriculum).
    
2.  #### Exam
    
    Pass all sections of the Uniform CPA Examination.
    
3.  #### Experience
    
    Complete one year of qualifying accounting experience verified as required by the Board.
    
4.  #### Application
    
    File the Board application with official transcripts, exam results, verified experience, and any required background or character information.
    

### CPA license through the bachelor's-plus-two-years route.

1.  #### Education
    
    Hold a bachelor's degree with the accounting or business concentration specified by the 2026 Arkansas rules; exam eligibility still requires 18 upper-level accounting hours with at least a C.
    
2.  #### Exam
    
    Pass all sections of the Uniform CPA Examination.
    
3.  #### Experience
    
    Complete two years of qualifying accounting experience verified under the Board's rules.
    
4.  #### Application
