# Pennsylvania CPA license

Pennsylvania publishes three CPA education/experience options, plus initial CPE obligations. Bookkeeping and non-CPA accounting employment are not the CPA credential.

## 3 credential pathways

Each credential below has its own requirements. Pick the one that matches the work you plan to do.

### Pennsylvania CPA license: bachelor's degree, 150 hours, and 12 months/1,600 hours.

1.  #### Education
    
    Complete a bachelor's degree and 150 semester hours, including the required accounting, auditing, business law, economics, technology, finance, and taxation credits and the additional accounting/audit/tax credits specified by Pennsylvania.
    
2.  #### Exam
    
    Pass the Uniform CPA Examination; Pennsylvania's snapshot also requires the initial CPE before the license is issued and does not list a separate ethics exam.
    
3.  #### Experience
    
    Complete 12 months or 1,600 hours of qualifying experience in public, government, industry, or academia, verified by an actively licensed CPA.
    
4.  #### Application
    
    Apply to the Pennsylvania State Board with official transcripts, exam record, experience verification, initial CPE evidence, and the required forms.
    

### Pennsylvania CPA license: bachelor's degree under the 24-credit subject route and 24 months/3,200 hours.

1.  #### Education
    
    Hold a bachelor's degree and the specified 24 subject credits in accounting, auditing, business law, economics, technology, finance, and taxation.
    
2.  #### Exam
    
    Pass the Uniform CPA Examination and complete the initial CPE required by Pennsylvania.
    
3.  #### Experience
    
    Complete 24 months or 3,200 hours of qualifying experience in an accepted setting, verified by an actively licensed CPA.
    
4.  #### Application
    
    Submit the Pennsylvania initial license application with education, exam, experience, CPE, and disclosure documents.
    

### Pennsylvania CPA license: graduate degree, 24 subject credits, and 12 months/1,600 hours.

    Hold a master's or other post-graduate degree and complete the specified 24 accounting/business subject credits.
    
2.  #### Exam
    
    Pass the Uniform CPA Examination and complete the initial CPE requirement.
    
3.  #### Experience
    
    Complete 12 months or 1,600 hours of qualifying experience verified by an actively licensed CPA.
    
4.  #### Application
    
    File the Pennsylvania Board application with official graduate transcripts, exam record, verified experience, and initial CPE evidence.
