Last reviewed July 30, 2026 ### Overview RBT is a BACB certification for a supervised behavior-technician role, not a Florida license issued under Chapter 491. Florida law separately addresses recognition of behavior-analyst certification and preserves sole behavior-analysis practice from Chapter 491 when the person does not claim a license or protected title under that chapter. Take the RBT examination after authorization. Certificants entering the new two-year cycle must maintain supervision and ethics compliance, earn 12 professional-development units during the cycle, and submit recertification through the BACB portal. Check the current handbook for the transition rule tied to your certification date. RBT training, assessment, and maintenance rules changed in 2026; verify the current forms before paying or applying.
