The selected line of authority determines the education, exam, fingerprint, application, and appointment steps; it is not a guide to nonresident licenses, renewals, agencies, adjusters, or brokers. #### Resident insurance producer — Life and Accident & Health 1. ##### Education For the combined resident Health & Life authority (2-15), complete a 60-hour approved course in life and health including variable annuity insurance within four years before applying. Standalone Life and Health licenses have separate course options and exemptions. 2. ##### Exam After completing the required education, unless a documented waiver applies, pass the state examination for each requested major line of authority. Follow the state exam provider and NIPR or department instructions for scheduling and score validity. 3. ##### Experience Florida provides experience and credential alternatives for some resident licenses. For General Lines, one year of recent responsible insurance work can substitute for the 200-hour course only through the alternatives stated by the Florida DFS qualification page; Personal Lines also has experience alternatives.
