The selected line of authority determines the education, exam, fingerprint, application, and appointment steps; it is not a guide to nonresident licenses, renewals, agencies, adjusters, or brokers. #### Resident insurance producer — Life and Accident & Health 1. ##### Education Complete a New York-approved prelicensing course of 20 hours for Life only, 20 hours for Accident & Health only, or 40 hours for the combined Life/A&H agent authority before the examination. 2. ##### Exam After completing the required education, unless a documented waiver applies, pass the state examination for each requested major line of authority.
